Zakes Bantwini ready to rock East London

- By POLISWA SEJOSING

CLAP Your Hands hitmaker Zakes Bantwini is coming to East London tomorrow.

The following day he will be performing at So What Lounge Southernwood in Mthatha.

The platinum selling artist will be kicking off his national tour to launch his brand new album, Love, Light and Music 2. He will be joined by DJ Bongz at The Venue@Hemingways.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch, Zakes Bantwini, whose real name is Zakhele Madida, said he could not wait to dazzle his Eastern Cape supporters this weekend.

“We have been working hard putting the show together and now it’s time to take it to the people. The last time I performed this music from my latest album was when I was recording it,” he said.

Zakes Bantwini made his debut in the music industry in 2009 when he was featured in Black Coffee’s album titled, Home Brewed in a hit song Juju.

He released his debut album titled Love, Light and Music in 2010. The album featured songs such as Bum Bum, Clap Your Hands and Wasting My Time.

The album was followed by his second album, The Fake Book and Real Book: My Music Bible.

Since his debut, Zakes Bantwini said he has learned that one must not rely on people to tell him whether he was gifted or not.

“You must believe in yourself. People will tell you different things and no one knows what song will be a hit. You must do your own thing,” he said.

Hemingways Casino’s marketing manager, Neville Austin, said: “With Hemingways Casino being East London’s number one entertainment destination, the launch party promises to be a night of fun and dancing.”

Zakes Bantwini said people should get ready to party with him tomorrow. “I am bringing my band and they will have a good time. I am excited about this, we have a few surprises lined up,” he said.

The after-party will be at OHBrigado Champagne Bar in Beacon Bay. Tickets for the show cost R150 and are available at Computicket. —
