- By MFUNDO PILISO

LATE entries are still open for the second annual Daily Dispatch Mthatha Fun Run which takes place on Sunday.

With entries flowing in, runners have been encouraged to move fast and get to their nearest registration point to avoid disappointment.

Running enthusiasts can visit the registration area stationed at BT Ngebs Mall from today until Saturday, next to Food Lovers Market, between 9am and 6pm to fill in their forms and also pay their entry fees on site.

Beside the the cash incentives, totalling R10 000 for the various categories, goodie bags will also be handed out to the thousand plus runners expected across the finish line.

Daily Dispatch acting marketing manager Penelope Smith said participants should organise their own transport to the starting points.

“The starting point for the 5km run will be at Walter Sisulu Sports grounds and for the 10km starting point will be on the R61 between Sasol and Caltex.

“We are thrilled to once again bring our second annual fun run event to the Mthatha community. We had a wonderful inaugural event and we are sure that this year’s one will be even bigger and better.

“This is a great way to get the whole family outdoors to enjoy the good weather and all the great activities we have on offer on the day.”

Smith also thanked the event sponsors for making the event a reality.

“None of this would be possible without our co-naming sponsor, O R Tambo District Municipality.

“Our thanks also go to Cheetahs Running Club, B T Ngebs City, Motion Fitness, Tranquillity, Premier, and our drinks sponsor Coca-Cola.”
