Re­gion’s best to vie for cash prizes at Mthatha event

The over­all win­ner of the night will walk away with R25 000, while sec­ond place will get R10 000 and third R5 000.

The over­all beach bikini, fit­ness bikini, men’s physique and ju­niors men’s di­vi­sional win­ners will bag them­selves R2 000 each, while all other di­vi­sional champs will claim R1 500, with sec­ond pick­ing up R1 000 and third R500.

“We have dou­bled the prize-money from last year’s event,” said Ma­jeke.

“It is grow­ing each and ev­ery year and we are ex­pect­ing top ath­letes from all over the coun­try and from other coun­tries to come down, so we wanted the prize-money to match the cal­i­bre of com­pe­ti­tion that we will be show­cas­ing.”

Weigh-in for the ath­letes takes place next Fri­day from 4pm to 9pm.

Pre-judg­ing will then get un­der way next Satur­day from 9am, with the main show tak­ing cen­tre-stage from 5.30pm at the Wal­ter Sisulu Uni­ver­sity.

“I am happy with the growth of the event as well as the sup­port from all the sec­tors from our area, which are the pro­vin­cial de­part­ment of sport, the OR Tambo dis­trict mu­nic­i­pal­ity as well as other part­ners such as Pa­narot­tis, Savoy Ho­tel and the hosts Wal­ter Sisulu Uni­ver­sity,” said Ma­jeke.

“It is go­ing to be a top-class show and is the only event that draws in­ter­na­tional ath­letes in the Eastern Cape so fans will be in for an en­joy­able night.”
