AWARD-winning trio Beatenberg are making their way to East London this Saturday for the C Club tequila festival.

The group are known for their smash hit Pluto (Remember You) featuring DJ Clock. Their debut album, The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg, saw them win multiple awards at the South African Music Awards in 2015.

It won the album of the year, group of the year and best pop album. Their hit single won the best-selling ring-back tone, best-selling full-track download and the highest airplay.

The festival, taking place at the Chintsa club, will see the trio sharing the stage with some of the province’s top indie-folk/pop artists.

The line-up includes the likes of Dan Hugo, Wez Thatcher, Chopper Paton, Dyl Thatcher, The Lucas Reunion from Port Elizabeth and C Club’s resident performer, Jason Gladwin.

The C Club’s Mark Crawford said preparations were under way for the festival this Saturday. “Everything is going well, we are ready for the event,” he said, adding that they were expecting great weather on Saturday.

In June, the club hosted its biggest event that saw more than 1 400 people singing along to Matthew Mole.

Crawford said Saturday’s would be slightly different.

“It’s on a smaller scale and we are doing things differently this time around.”

He said this was their last event before they take a two-month break.

“The wedding season is coming up and we will be focusing on that before we kick off our December line-up.”

Crawford said their barmen were ready to impress on Saturday.

“The tequila festival is also an opportunity to showcase our cocktailmaking skills. We will have local and imported tequilas and we have made event sure that there are more than enough stations.”

Gladwin, a well-known indie-folk singer, said he could not wait to share some of his new music.

He released his debut album, Untamed, last year and has been travelling all over the country doing shows, including television appearances.

His hit single, Keep You Warm, saw him getting more than 100 000 views on YouTube.

He said he could not wait to try some of his new music this weekend.

“I haven’t released any new music since August last year and I am looking forward to releasing an extended play (EP) in the new year. I have been writing new music and I am open to all genres now,” he said, adding he was going for the electro sound on production.

“It’s going to be more dance and it’s fun. I will see how the audience receives it this Saturday, but it’s music that people can sing along to. I am excited about this.”

The club’s next big act after Beatenberg will be Prime Circle on December 23. Other events lined up include the Parlotones on December 26 as part of the Lazy Days events.

Tickets for Saturday’s festival R100 and are available at — cost
