Sisulu jibes deeply divisive

-

THE RECENT public utterances by comrade Lindiwe Sisulu in the public space directed at our ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe are very alarming and disturbing.

Of course, such an unfortunate incident has dominated all forms of media lately, with even those who have a counter agenda to bury the ANC clapping hands, while some bring shovels in jollification at these really unfortunate utterances.

Whatever might have triggered such comments from Sisulu we ought, without fear or favour, to assert that this liberation was achieved through collective efforts of mass mobilisation, underground actions, armed forces and international solidarity.

There has not been any barometer to gauge which motive force yielded more strength than the other.

Anyway, such an endeavour would be mischievous.

As we gear up towards our 54th national conference, it is crystal clear many foreign elements and tendencies will at times pop out of nowhere, especially with regard to the direction our organisation should take post-conference.

Much as such a process is inevitable, those of us at grassroots in branches – with nothing but this movement with its many challenges – ought to be very vigilant and not be distracted from our perpetual goal, which is to deal with problems confronting the ANC and the country.

The ANC, at this political moment in the leadup to the conference, has been flung into a fever about the role of comrade Mantashe.

As secretary-general he is in fact, to be applauded in terms of the journey being traversed to the national conference, and we as members shall not entertain any attempts that hold the potential to distract us from dealing with the state capture bandits and their associates. — Zibele Xuba, Queenstown
