Central heating on cards

EAST London Central Local Football Association will bring the curtain down on its 2017 Premier and the John Korkie-sponsored First Division league season this weekend at the North End Stadium.

With Riverside having already secured the premier league title their encounter against second-placed Seagulls on Sunday at 3.30pm will be of more significance to the CC Lloydbased green and whites as they need a win in order to secure the runnersup berth should Star of India pick up the maximum points against Napoli at 12.30pm which will elevate them into second place.

Riverside however would dearly want to round off their campaign with a win before they are handed the prestigous trophy to cap another great season.

Pride will be at stake when fourthlaced Swaraj entertain old rivals Parkside United at 2pm and Buffalo City Sports Academy host Prides in the early encounter at 11am.

The First Division is set for a dramatic and exciting conclusion when Millan and Fort Hare-based Imonti Christian Centre, who lie second, clash in the title decider tomorrow at 4.30pm at North End. Only a point separate these two outfits. Both will be gunning for their maiden senior silverware and automatic promotion to the premier league.

Leeds United face Central United at 3pm and at the Parkside ground Prides U20 cross swords with K-Way at 1.30pm.

The EL Central Youth leagues continue tomorrow at North End, Parkside and at the Showgrounds. Six points separate the Clayton/Brendan de Kock-sponsored U10 logleaders Prides A and Leeds United with five rounds remaining. Both sides face testing encounters tomorrow. Leeds face third-placed Central United B and Prides A clash with Buffalo City Sports Academy.

Five points stand between the Calvin Brown-sponsored U12 logleaders Pefferville United and Leeds United. These sides cross swords tomorrow in a potential title decider.

Peffervile United and Leeds United are also battling it out for the Impala Electrical-sponsored U14 league title with four rounds remaining. Pefferville United lead the table by a handy six points and should retain their lead as they are a sure bet for the maximum points against Prides tomorrow while second- placed Leeds United have a tricky tie against Seagulls to contend with.

Millan are in a strong position to win the U16 league title with four rounds remaining. They are three points ahead of Pefferville United.

The Deolin Willemse-sponsored U18 league is a two-horse race with only goal difference separating tabletoppers Millan and Riverside with two rounds of football remaining. While Millan is expected to be too strong for Leeds United the encounter between Riverside and thirdplaced Swaraj should be a fascinating test of wits. — DDC
