Bucks are aiming to steal three points

- By MFUNDO PILISO

MTHATHA Bucks will aim to steal three points when they go against Cape Town All Stars at the Mthatha Stadium so they can move back to third position on the National First Division (NFD) log standings.

Bucks are on nine points and in seventh place after winning only two games, drawing three and losing two games.

Bucks will want to improve their position on the standings as the NFD is a fast-paced league and if they lose more than four times at this stage they might find it difficult to compete during the season.

Amathol'amnyama made impressive new signings when the season kicked off through the likes of former Chippa United players, Pentjie Zulu and Bongani Kama.

Kama has been impressive in the field in terms of discipline plus his skills set and leadership skills he has.

Since Zulu's arrival inMthatha, he has been one of the players pulling fans to the stadium as he always finds a way of upsetting opponents while entertaining fans at the same time with flair.

Kama, affectionately known by his fans as “BK” has been instrumental in keeping stability at the back together with goalkeeper Siya Mngoma who is a veteran at the club.

Bucks were dealt a blow when Mngoma and Lucky Mathosi were out nursing injuries.

As a result they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of log leaders Stellenbosch FC.

Today's game will see the return of Mathosi who has aerial advantage and former Jomo Cosmos defender Shane Thompson who was out on suspension.

Former Zizwe United striker Mpho Erasmus who has been the club's top goalscorer will also try and help his side bounce back as he has been unlucky in the past two games when it comes to finishing chances but managed to score against Royal Eagles.

Former Cape Town All Stars striker Linda Bhengu who was also unlucky during the game against Stellenbosch FC will also want to prove his worth, after he missed more than two clear chances in that game.

This past weekend the Bucks suffered another defeat when they were hammered 3-1 by Royal Eagles at the Harry Gwala Stadium and Palmer took full responsibility. He said he was hopeful that his charges would remember the talk he had with them and that they would focus on their finishing.
