Moloi faces injury woes at Chippa

- By VUYOKAZI NKANJENI

CHIPPA United coach Teboho Moloi is faced with injury worries ahead of their Premier Soccer League fixture against Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium tonight (kickoff 7.30pm).

The Chilli Boys are gunning for their third consecutive win after beating Cape Town City 2-1 in the league and then African champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the Telkom Knockout competition at the weekend.

Mark Mayambela could be out for six weeks as a result of a fractured foot. While Katlego Mashego and Sandile Zuke have also been ruled out for tonight’s match.

There is, however, a possibility that the pair might be fit for the Telkom Knockout game against Kaizer Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

Moloi does not seem to be bothered much about the injuries.

“I am happy that my team is not a one man team. We don’t have regular players at Chippa we have influential players and those players are influential, but the other players [who come in their place] give whatever is expected of them.

“I am very fortunate that I have a young squad and young players who have mileage under their belts and who can go and perform the same as the influential players,” Moloi said.

“I just hope that Zuke and Katlego will be fine. We will try and rotate the team and send out a strong team against Wits. The motto of the team is ‘away from home secure a point and if we can get a smash and grab then go for it but at home it has to be a slaughter house’. We have to go all out for three points.”

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder is aware that tonight’s game will not be easy but said he was certain that if everybody was focused his players would come back with at least a point.
