Top comics to hit city stage for big laughs

- By NONSINDISO QWABE

THREE of Eastern Cape’s most loved comedians will be in East London today to give people a laughing experience like no other for one night only.

Ndumiso Lindi, Rob van Vuuren and Donovan Goliath will be on stage this evening at East London ICC for The Homecoming Comedy Show.

The three acts, who hail from various parts of the province and have attained international acclaim for their craft, will be united on stage to take comedy lovers back to their humble roots.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch, Port Elizabethborn Van Vuuren said he was excited to be coming back to the province once more.

“I always look for reasons to keep coming back as often as I can and this time I’ll be with two other comics, all returning to our roots.

“It’s a huge honour and I look forward to being with the East London crowd once more,” he said.

Van Vuuren said the Eastern Cape was a hub of material for comedians as there is always a lot to talk and laugh about.

“I feel an enormous sense of pride in coming from such humble beginnings, in such an overlooked province in the country.”

Goliath, who hails from Mthatha, said he was bringing with him stories of being a rural boy in the big city of Johannesburg. “I’m also a fan of always coming back to my home province. There’s lot’s of content to talk about and what’s great is that people will just get it.”

He said his six years in the industry have shaped his craft incredibly, and he was looking forward to sharing his experiences with the audience.

“I have a lot of stories to share about moving from a small town to the big city that I believe a lot of people will relate with, and enjoy.

“We’re three very different comedians, all with unique styles and content, and we’ll all be on stage together. We hope the crowd will have a fun time with us.”

The trio will be live from 8pm at the ICC, before trekking to PE tomorrow.

Tickets are R120 per person, and are available from Computicket. —
