‘Our Perfect Wedding’ picks its new host

THE public has spoken, and Kayise Ngqula is the new Our Perfect Wedding host.

Mzansi Magic’s reality show went on a nationwide presenter search in September which ended with Ngqula being named as the new presenter during the finale at a picturesqu­e Shepstone Gardens in Mountain View, Johannesbu­rg on Thursday.

Auditions were held in Johannesbu­rg, East London and Durban and guest judges included former and current OPW presenters Thembisa Mdoda, Nomsa Buthelezi and Phumeza Mdabe.

Singer and songwriter Moneo and TV personalit­y Bonang also took part in the judging process. Out of thousands of entries, six Eastern Cape-born aspiring presenters made it to the top.

The finalists were Noni Mbete from Port Elizabeth, Natasha Mazomba from East London, Mbasa Fefe from Mthatha, Nolusindis­o Macanda from Alice and Asanda Nomatshawe Mbali, also from East London. Ngqula, who was born in East London and moved to Gauteng at the age of 10, won the hearts of South Africans with her versatilit­y.

Ngqula, an internatio­nal relations and politics student at the University of Johannesbu­rg, could not contain

“I am over the moon and I cannot wait to start this new journey. One of the things I love about OPW is how it celebrates diversity. I hope to include all the amazing cultures we have in this country,” she said.

Ngqula will also walk away with a cash prize of R100 000 courtesy of Mzansi Magic.

The new OPW presenter will make her debut in January . — DDR her excitement.
