Deal with rotten potatoes
THE recent discussion by the ANC national executive committee on the Eastern Cape 8th provincial elective conference is warmly welcomed, but with some concerns.
My first is that the NEC’s energy was spent only on the Eastern Cape whilst Nkosazana DlaminiZuma’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial executive committee, as disputed since 2015 and further nullified by the Pietermaritzburg High Court, featured nowhere.
Was this because it’s the home province of Dlamini-Zuma? Or are politics of tribalism now taking centre stage?
Nevertheless, the seven members of the factfinding task team appointed to investigate the causes of the chaos at the EC elective conference will find the truth. The culprits are known, even by some in the NEC.
They wanted indeed, to collapse the 8th EC conference. They tried but failed. Smaller numbers cannot defeat larger ones.
The comrades responsible for the chaos know very well who they are and owe the ANC the truth, which will one day emerge.
It’s worrying to observe so much crippling illdiscipline by people who are self-centred, driven by personal and selfish interests. We served with some of these comrades in the ANC Youth League and they did the same, but at that time the NEC leaders from the youth league were not cowards nor biased. The likes of former ANCYL president Julius Malema were clear and even made some apologise for their ill-discipline.
The anarchy and crippling ill-discipline shown at the EC conference can not be entertained. Those responsible must face disciplinary processes. We need a collective speaking of truth. The new Eastern Cape PEC has said this and the past week’s NEC reiterated it.
Ours is now to be led by Lubabalo Mabuyane and his collective PEC. Those still undermining our constitutionally elected PEC must be dealt with according to ANC disciplinary processes. We dare not to rubbish the legacy of this province.
Let rotten potatoes be dealt with. Thanks for the fact-finding task team to close the matter. — Viwe Sidali, ANC Mzwanele Fazzie branch
