FORMER Orlando Pirates left wing Maselealo Seanego is looking to add value to the Chippa United camp after receiving a short-term contract with the Port Elizabeth outfit.

The 23-year-old, from Wattville in Gauteng, has penned a sixmonth contract with the Chilli Boys with an option to renew the deal.

Shakes, as he is affectionately known, is a product of Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs’ development programme and has had a stint at Golden Arrows.

The right-footed winger has not had much game time in recent seasons and determined to revive his football career at the Chilli Boys camp.

“It is awesome to be part of Chippa United and I am very excited,” said Seanego.

“I see this as an opportunity to revive my career with one of the fastest growing football brands in the country.

“I trained with Chippa before the start of last season, but the move did not materialise into anything back then.

“I would like to thank the chairman Siviwe Mpengesi for affording me the opportunity to be a Chilli Boy.

“I am grateful to the coach and his technical team, and of course the players, for the manner in which they have welcomed me to Port Elizabeth.”

Seanego signed a first team contract with the Buccaneers in 2013, but was immediately loaned out to Golden Arrows. He also recently played for First Division outfit, Royal Eagles.

“I am grateful to have been afforded an opportunity with Pirates. When I returned to the team in July last year we had a mutual agreement to part ways.”

The left-winger has reunited with his former teammates Zitha Macheke and Menzi Masuku. He is hoping to re-ignite the chemistry he shared with the players.

Seanego has also featured for the junior national teams and is positive that Chippa is headed in the right direction.

“I played with Zitha [Macheke] at Chiefs Development and I was also with Menzi [Masuku] and some other guys at Pirates. I know Paseka Mako as we played against each at school level,” said Seanego.

“We are united towards one goal . . . to do well this season and qualify for Caf competition.

“The vibe in the team is good and conducive for us to do really well this season.

“I want to be part of history here and I want to be part of the first generation to win our Friendly City supporters a trophy.

“We can achieve this with hard work and determination.

“I am now working hard to regain my confidence, and this has been made easy here at Chippa as I am familiar with most of the guys.”

Seanego has started training with the team and travelled with them to Johannesburg for the match against Ajax Cape Town but has not been given an opportunity to be part of the lineup as yet. — DDC
