ConCourt to our rescue

-

I SAID it two years ago in this paper that when politicians fail, citizens are increasingly punishing them through the ballot.

Liberians have been trying to do this for decades – but bouncing and bouncing. But George Weah kept calm for more than a decade and continued seek advice, even from those in prison, and never resorted to violence.

Today he is the president of Liberia thanks to his plan of furthering his studies on how to administer and become a smart leader.

He is not the only soccer star who has done this. Some have become mayors.

Liberia is an example of a country where political fibre was lost a long time ago through poor leadership and this started wars in that country.

But now, for the first time in decades, there is a peaceful democratic handover of leadership and civilians are happy and singing in the aftermath of elections. This was achieved through the ballot box.

I salute you Liberians, and let’s hope President George Weah and his team will do things right and bring change for the good in people’s lives.

Another example of political fibre lost is here in RSA, within the ANC in the National Assembly where the majority does not always abide by constitutional principles.

Thank you Constitutional Court judges – you save us from the misrule of ANC MPs who think they are free to twist every truth. Shame on them. — Mawanda Sihele, via email
