Fans in for bumper month at Buffalo Park stadium

Five high-profile matches scheduled at venue excite officials and fans

“We are very excited for the cricket taking place in January. We are always working hard to bring more premium content to Buffalo Park, so it is good to be having this many big games in one month,” said Border cricket CEO Thando Booi.

“It is also nice that a few of those games are before the 15th, so it falls in the holiday period and we are expecting a lot of support for those matches.

“We are really looking forward to it and we encourage all cricket-lovers in East London and the surrounding areas to come out in their numbers and enjoy the action.”

The Warriors will first be up against the Lions at Buffalo Park next week Thursday, before taking on the Titans three days later and rounding off against the Knights on January 25.

However, they first have to play three games over the next five days, starting with the Dolphins in Port Elizabeth on Friday, before they arrive in East London next Wednesday, January 10.

“I think the Warriors have been playing very well, so it is definitely going to be exciting,” said Booi.

“It is still early days in terms of the one day cup, but the team has started well and they are in good spirits and I am sure with the new coaching staff, players will be raising their hands to show what they are capable of.

“We are also hoping that we will see the likes of Marco Marais making his debut for the Warriors and playing in one or two games which would be great for Border cricket and great for development on the Border.

“Clayton Bosch has already made his Warriors debut a few weeks ago and it is exciting for us to see so many of our players in the selection mix,” Booi added.

Border will be taking on Namibia in their Sunfoil 3-Day Cup encounter from January 18 to January 20 and the will play the same opponents in the one day challenge on Sunday, January 21.

Border have enjoyed a very good season so far and with them playing their final six matches of the season away from home, they will be eager to claim two good wins over Namibia to pick up some momentum going into a tough run of games.

“It has been a great season so far for the Border team, they have been playing consistently well and find themselves in contention on all fronts at this stage,” said Booi.

“I think the team is in a good position and we are looking forward to what they can do in the second half of the season, starting with Namibia later this month.”

With plenty of action on show, a thrilling month of cricket is in store and Buffalo Park is geared up to be a hive of activity.
