E.tv on a journey to justice with crime series

- By LISEKHO MADIKANE

Case Closed: Justice Served, a new local crime and investigation series, starts on e.tv tonight at 10.

The show promises to unravel nerve-jangling South African crime stories – murders, heists, robberies, financial crime, rape and drug trafficking – but taking the viewers on a journey to justice.

Producer Minke Alves has produced shows such as KasiLicious and Hectic Nine-9.

The 13-part series will give viewers insight into the crimesolving world on their doorstep. Legal teams from both defence and prosecution contribute to the show, giving the viewers deep insight into the cases.

The general manager of e.tv local content Ziyanda Mngomezulu said viewers would also hear stories straight from the mouths of victims, perpetrators, investigative officers and even judges. The step-by-step journeys would examine the crimes and how perpetrators were captured and taken through trial to the conclusion of sentence.

“The channel made a conscious decision to ensure that through the exploration of the harsh realities of crime committed in our society, there is a silver lining. The show emphasises the successes of our criminal justice system to help restore faith where much of this has been eroded in South Africa,” Mngomezulu said.

Where the party involved could not be reached, those parts would be re-enacted.

Mngomezulu said: “The channel has explored content of this nature with international offerings such as

Unusual Suspects and saw an interest from the viewers, so we chose to turn the lens to within our borders and specifically chose to highlight crimes that have been solved, leaving the viewers with faith, something we don’t highlight often.”

The show can also be seen on eHD, Openview HD on channel 104, and DStv on channel 194 at 10pm.
