BEACON Bay police are looking for three people who robbed a home in prestigious Lagoon View Drive yesterday morning.

At 8.15am the thugs overpowered and disarmed an Optimum security patrol guard and invaded the house.

The owner of the house, a Chinese national, was grabbed near the gate. He and the guard were frogmarched inside at gunpoint.

East London police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala said they made the guard tie up a number of occupants in the house and then emptied the house of jewellery, cellphones, tablets and other household goods before driving off in the owner’s white VW Transporter minibus.

Mqala said: “Two males approached a Chinese national in front of his house and pointed a firearm at him. They took his cellphone and cash.

“A third suspect forced the patrol guard into the house.

“The occupants and guard were robbed of their belongings.”

Yesterday Optimum Security manager Jason Hein said his team was going through CCTV footage from streetview cameras.

“We are hoping to pull still photos so we can see their faces.

“By tomorrow we will have something positive to work on.”

Hein said the guard was recovering from the trauma.
