Sangoni-Diko speaks up for Cyril
MTHATHA-born former ANC spin doctor Khusela SangoniSangoni-Diko has been appointed as President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokeswoman.
Her appointment was announced by the Presidency yesterday. Tyrone Seale, the former acting spokesman for president Ramaphosa, said Sangoni-Diko would start her duties on March 12.
“Sangoni-Diko is a seasoned communicator and marketing professional who was, until recently, the governing party’s national communications manager, and acted as its spokesperson on many occasions,” Seale said.
It is not the first time Sangoni will be serving in government communications.
Seale said Sangoni-Diko had served as a chief director of the Gauteng government before joining the ANC.
She also serves in the highest decision-making structures of the ANC in Gauteng, Seale said, as a member of both the provincial executive committee and its working committee.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Law degree.
ANC national spokesman Pule Mabe said the ANC regretted Sangoni-Diko’s departure from Luthuli House, ANC’s headquarters.
“Comrade Khusela has selflessly led the department [of communications of the ANC] with diligence and commitment. We thank her for service to the the ANC and wish her well in her future endeavours,” he said.
Mabe said the party was confident Sangoni-Diko was not lost to its “overall” communications machinery. —
