EL leaders to inspire at forum
Entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to learn from best
EAST London entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to learn from the best at the Business Leaders Growth Forum next week, with the dynamic Vusi Thembekwayo scheduled as the event’s keynote speaker.
The forum, set for Friday March 16 at the
ICC on the Esplanade, will also feature Frere Hospital CEO
Rolene Wagner and Vuka Group executive chairman Luthando Bara.
By the time he was 25 Thembekwayo was running a R400-million division in a R17-billion multinational company, the Metcash Group.
Today he is one of the youngest directors of a listed company and is CEO of a boutique investment and advisory firm that forces medium, large and listed businesses into much needed, often painful, but always lucrative new directions.
Thembekwayo has travelled all over the world doing motivational talks and was one of the business moguls on Dragon’s Den SA.
The reality show saw the business mentors putting budding entrepreneurs through their paces as they looked to secure funding or mentorship for their business ideas.
Event organiser Manga Belle of Le Duke Life Events said he wanted other people to hear the message Thembekwayo had to share.
“This event is close to my heart because I am also an entrepreneur and I’ve had the opportunity to interact with Vusi and I felt other people need to hear him,” he said.
While Thembekwayo is the keynote speaker, Belle said he was also looking forward to hearing the other speakers as well. “I cannot wait to hear how Dr Wagner turned things around at Frere Hospital or how Bara does his business. People must come and learn from these amazing people.”
Belle said his plan was to turn the Business Leaders Growth Forum into an annual event.
“I don’t want this thing to be a once-off thing. People go to motivational talks and get all excited and then go back to their lives without doing anything.
“I want people to come back next year and tell us how they have applied what they learned here,” he said.
He added that he understood that an event of this magnitude could take a while to gain popularity. “Such things take time but I am patient.
“I want people to gain valuable lessons, even if only 50 people are transformed. This will be worthwhile for everyone, not just entrepreneurs. Be they in the corporate world or a business owner, everyone will get something out of this,” he said. Tickets cost R500.
