Bucks to go full steam for win over Uthongathi

- By MFUNDO PILISO

MTHATHA Bucks coach Duncan Lechesa plans to go all out in their crucial National First Division encounter against Uthongathi this afternoon at Mthatha Stadium.

Amathol’amnyama are sitting at the bottom of the log standings with 20 points after only four wins in their 2017-18 league campaign.

And with just seven games to go until the league finishes they stand a of chance of collecting 21 points, which could ensure them their NFD status going into next season.

Lechesa said if he had to play five strikers in order to win this much anticipated clash at home he would “without hesitation”.

Bucks are coming from the Fifa week break, and their mentor said they used it to get their minds back into the game.

“It’s been a long week. We got a small break to sort out some of the things that needed to be looked at.

“This is one of the games that will give us hope and we need to win it at all costs so that we can get closer to the other teams [away from the relegation zone].

“If we don’t do that we’ll be in a tight spot and we cannot rely on the other games we are going to play.

“It’s time for us to move up from this position we are in, and this is a must win situation.”

The Bucks camp is injury free and has seen the return of all their influential players, such as Chileshe Kangwa.

“There’s nothing to worry about in terms of injuries. We just have to go all out and do our best,” he said.

The Bucks mentor said it would be a “nice challenge” to choose the 18-man squad.

Lechesa is a bit spoilt for choice, as he’s got quality strikers in Mpho Erasmus, Siya “Wonderkid” Dubula, right-back Kaketso Majadibodu, and experienced defensive midfielder Angelo Kerspuy.

“Even the technical team we have is familiar with the boys, and that’s also going to play a huge role going into the planning for this game.

“Everyone is back to the fold now and, apart from no injuries, there are also no suspensions.”

Lechesa said Uthongathi might come with their ordinary approach, which is usually to park the bus, but he was prepared to take them to task.

“Every team that comes here always tries to catch us on the counter, but they should know we’ll play our normal game.

“We’ll keep on attacking and attacking until something gives, and we might score three goals in this game. Anything is possible.”
