Quins facing tough battle with Swallows for honours

- By YONELA MOFU

IT will be a battle of the giants when P E Harlequins lock horns with East London’s Swallows in the Super 12 club rugby final at East London’s Buffalo Park Stadium tomorrow (3.30pm).

Harlequins will be looking to consolidate their impressive campaign after three wins in a row took them into the final.

They will be aiming for their first Super 12 title after being knocked out in the semifinals last year.

They are confident with ball in hand and outplayed Park in the semifinals, winning 16-10. However, they will have a mammoth task against Swallows, with much depending on flyhalf Luan Bosman.

He will have a pivotal role in organising his backline and will need to show his control against the physical approach of Swallows.

His boot could be the difference between the two sides as he has scored vital points for his team throughout the tournament.

Up front, Ryan January will also need to step up against the bulky Swallows pack as he has been an important ball carrier for the PE side.

Swallows have been dominant in the competition. They have been clinical on defence and may have the edge in the scrums.
