Dream start for brave new kids on the block

NCERA Leopards got off to a good start in their maiden season in the Premier League Division when they beat Young Leopards 7-3 at the Buffalo City Stadium over the weekend.

Leopards team manager Siphiwo Fuzile said they went into the game as underdogs as they faced an experienced side that finished second last season in the league.

“It was a tough game for us. They were leading 3-0 for the better part of the game,” said Fuzile.

“We are very pleased with the way the boys handled themselves. They really listened to the coach in the two [days] they were preparing for this game,” he added.

Fuzile said even if they had lost the game he would still be happy with how balanced the game was. He believed the substitutions they made had a major impact on the final results of the game.

“In the first half we got penalties but then missed all of them but they were to put one in.

“We put in players to toughness in the game.”

Ncera Leopards coach Herinco van Wyk had to replace his injured prop Aviwe Nqamrha in the dying minutes of the game and that gave them a chance to get a try with Luvo Malgas finishing the job with a conversion.

“The coach Herinco van Wyk had to intervene from inside the pitch because things were getting tougher. He created our one and only try when he gave our defenders the ball who found Debhs in a good position,” said Fuzile.

“He didn’t disappoint as he went for the try we had been looking for the entire game and I can tell you that the spirit in the team right now is amazing.

“The boys and management are really hyped up and we want to push even more harder.” boost the
