WALTER Sisulu University will bestow its highest honour on acclaimed Eastern Cape-born property mogul and entrepreneur Sisa Ngebulana when he receives an honorary doctoral degree in commerce.
Ngebulana, who is the founder and executive chairman of the Billion Group, will be honoured during a graduation ceremony in Mthatha today.
“WSU chancellor Sheila Sisulu will confer the honorary doctorate in commerce on the Mthatha-born property developer and Billion Group founder at a special graduation,” said Tukwayo.
Ngebulana has already earned several degrees, including a law degree from University of Fort Hare, an LLB degree from Natal University and an LLM degree from the former Rand Afrikaans University.
His achievements include conceiving and developing retail assets such as Hemingways Mall in East London, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth (the Eastern Cape’s largest mall), Forest Hill City in Centurion and Mdantsane City in Mdantsane.
The Corhana-born business leader has also contributed to Mthatha’s economic development through the landmark property investment B T Ngebs City.
Ngebulana said his grandfather, whom the B T Ngebs mall is named after, was his greatest inspiration and an example of all the virtues he embraced in his daily life. —
