Peaceful protest a must

-

IT IS almost two weeks since the violent protests have settled in Mahikeng and the town still remains filthy with no sign of service delivery.

In the final analysis, the ANC is still comfortably in charge.

Not all residents in Mahikeng voted for the ANC in the 2014 national and provincial elections, or the 2016 local government elections.

Why should those who did not vote for the ANC suffer as a result of ANC factional battles in the province?

For those us who have spent considerable time assessing ANC failures at local, provincial and national level for the past 24 years, replacing premier Supra Mahumapelo with another ANC premier – or replacing the mayor with another ANC mayor – is not in the best interests of Mahikeng residents or the province.

It is simply a vicious circle that will benefit the new faction in power and their associates.

Residents of Mahikeng and North West do not need a “bring us a Mcebisi Jonas” option as promoted by the EFF in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

They need the ANC to be voted out of power as in yesterday.

Those who are disgruntled with the ANC should resign en masse and join other political parties in the province that will prioritise the people’s needs.

This is a realistic way to demonstrate dissatisfaction with ANC failure to deliver.

It does not make sense at all to destroy the same properties and infrastructure that must be repaired and/or replaced with taxpayer’s money. — Lesego Sechaba Mogotsi[i], Azapo committee on publicity and information member
