Prince pins hope on South Africans to fund dream

-

WITH a target of R200 000‚ it’s a big ask. But Prince Chikezie is pinning his dream on the generosity of South Africans.

Chikezie‚ in a crowdfunding appeal on BackABuddy‚ said he obtained a Bachelor of Science (cum laude) at Stellenbosch University in 2016.

“I am seeking help in furthering my education. I was recently selected to study medicine through the Graduate Entry Medical Programme at the University of the Witwatersrand‚ the only institution that offers this contemporary programme in SA.

Chikezie says he is originally from Nigeria‚ though he arrived in South Africa at the age of 10.

“I have resided here for the past 13 years. Unfortunately [I am experiencing] financial and immigration difficulties which restricts my access to funding.

“I am charged double local tuition‚ as I am still not officially a citizen of SA. Despite the odds‚ I am hoping to raise funds for half of the duration of the programme [two years] while resolving my immigration problem.

“I am confident that‚ with support‚ I can become an asset in the field of health sciences and medicine.”

So far‚ he has received pledges of almost R12 000‚ along with lots of good wishes for his future.

Jess Prissman said: “Good luck Prince! Can’t wait to see you achieve all of your dreams” while Kelly and family commented: “Can’t think of someone more deserving!!”
