Nakhane is embracing change in life

- By CHRIZELDA KEKANA

BELIEVE it or not Nakhane wasn’t always as comfortable with his life choices as he is today‚ and a lot has changed since his youth.

Nakhane told Gareth Cliff on Cliff Central that while a lot of life events have gone into shaping who he is today.

When asked what piece of advice he would give to the 20-year-old version of himself to speed up the progress of “finding happiness”‚ Nakhane went in with one powerful sentence.

Dear 20-year-old Nakhane‚ “None of this s**t matters.” Love‚ Nakhane.

Nakhane went on to explain why that would be the only thing he tells a younger version of himself. The musician said that his journey to living and embracing individualism was long and he was proud of it.

“The Nakhane who came out with an album in 2013 is so different to the Nakhane that exists now. This Nakhane would not exist without that one and I am proud of him.”

The You Will Not Die hitmaker said the greatest decision he made that led him to who he is today was to let go of fear.

“I’ve made peace with where I am and what I desire. And‚ I just try not to be a d**k. I am less afraid of the world and of myself. I always said‚ ‘I don’t care if anybody likes me or what people think’ and I thought I meant it but I actually mean it now.”

Nakhane previously told the media that he had let go of the notion that only one thing or one place holds his happiness. A choice he said helped him to live a life of an itinerant.

“I have always been looking for a place to belong but never really wanted to settle down and put down roots.” —
