Throw book at Manana

-

IT is so disappointing to see how some politicians think they are above the law. Just look at former deputy minister of higher education and current MP Mduduzi Manana who again faces allegations of assaulting a woman – this time his former domestic worker, Christine Wiro.

Last week‚ Manana threatened to open a case of extortion after Wiro opened a case of intimidation‚ assault and crimen injuria against him at the Douglasdale police station in Johannesburg.

Wiro reportedly later withdrew the case because she feared for her life, but the National Prosecuting Authority which was sent the docket from the police station‚ refused to withdraw the charges and told the police to investigate.

This is not the first time Manana is facing these kind of charges.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting three women in September after a video of him hitting them at a restaurant went viral.

His actions are not acceptable and must be viewed in a very serious light.

He must indeed face the full might of the law and if found guilty he will in effect, be a proven habitual women abuser who must go to prison.

As an MP he is also bringing the name of the ANC into serious disrepute and should have been shown the door long ago.

This guy clearly has a serious problem and it’s time he got a dose of reality. — Roy D Claasen, East London
