AFRO soul singer Vusi Nova is giving his fans a glimpse of his forthcoming album with the release of a new single, Ndizokulinda, today.

It is the first from the album, due out in August, and he has described it as his best song to date.

Speaking with the Daily Dispatch yesterday, Vusi Nova, whose real name is Vusi Nongxo, said the single was a continuation from his platinum selling album, Naninina. On the album, he shared his hardships from his failed five-year relationship.

“As the title of the song suggests, it is about waiting for someone you love.

“You know, when you’re in a relationship and you feel like you love your partner more than they love you.

“That’s exactly how I felt in that relationship and I said I would wait but my heart couldn’t,” he said, adding that the song would resonate with many people. “I hope this song helps work through whatever they are going through. If they want to wait they can – or they can walk away.”

Vusi Nova said he was in the final stages of finishing off the new album.

“Ndizakulinda is my best song by far. I’ve put my all into it and it’s now for the public to decide. Many people have been asking me for new music and it’s finally happening now.”

Talking about the yet-to-be titled album, Vusi Nova said he was singing about things close to his heart.

“I was raised by my grandmother, who loved me deeply, and that’s why in my music I always sing about love.

“I am what I am today because of love,” he said.

The album has a song dedicated to all the fallen soldiers in the music industry, such as Mandoza, Sifiso Ncwane and Lundi.

Vusi Nova has co-written and performed songs with Ntsika from The Soil and new Mthatha new outfit 047.

“On Naninina I did a song with Ntsika and this time around I decided to have more than one person. These are all people who understand my journey and my music,” he said.

Nongxo has been instrumental in the growth of 047, which he discovered through a friend last year. Under his mentorship the group released its first album last month. “It was fulfilling for me to see them release their album. Those kids are blessed and I am humbled that I had the honour of walking with them on this journey.

“They are between the ages of 19 and 21 and already they are where they are. They have me as a mentor, and they also have access to the likes of Ntando and Zahara. I believe the sky is the limit for them,” he said.

During the group’s recent performance, Vusi Nova said he found himself in tears as it dawned on him how they have been dreaming about such moments all their lives.

“People love their music and I am proud of them.”

The single is scheduled to be playlisted on a number of stations nationwide and will be available on all digital stores from today. —
