CHIPPA United’s star trio of Paseka Mako, Abel Mabaso and Linda Mntambo will play in the black and white jerseys of Orlando Pirates next season.

This was confirmed by Chippa’s chief operations officer, Lukhanyo Mzinzi.

Mabaso and Mntambo joined the Chilli Boys squad last season while Paseka has spent two seasons with the Port Elizabethbased soccer team.

The threesome have been Chippa’s impact players and been a huge contributor in the team’s success during the past season.

“Mabaso is going to Pirates. I can confirm that,” Mzinzi told SABC radio at the weekend.

“Pirates have shown an interest in him.

“He has been very loyal and a consistent performer for us. We wish him all the best.

“Pirates is one of the biggest clubs in the country. You must remember that they have qualified to play [in] Africa so they are intensifying everything they have to make sure that they are able to compete.”

Yesterday Mzinzi also confirmed Mako and Mntambo’s move to the Soweto giants.

“Paseka is definitely leaving to join Pirates. He has done very well at the club over the past two seasons. He was one of outstanding performers and we are very happy for him. He has been very loyal to our brand.

“He is one player that has performed well overall in the PSL. I definitely thought that he deserved even one nomination or even to win something at the PSL awards which took place recently.”

When also questioned about Mntambo’s possible move to Pirates and Bantu Mzwakali’s move to Bidvest Wits, Mzinzi replied, “Yes, Linda is also leaving.

“We have spoken to Wits they have shown interest in Mzwakali. He’s a good player but you would know that Wits have had some challenges this past season and they are now looking at stabilising their squad.

“As a club we have a very good relationship with Wits. I am sure that we will find a way of sorting our issues,” he said.

The Chilli Boys recently signed Mamelodi Sundowns former skipper Thabo Nthethe, Boikanyo Komane from Royal Eagles as well as Cape Town All Stars duo Ntuxeko Nation Ndlovu and Lucky Setelele.

Mzinzi said more signings will be revealed in due course.
