Drivers dump their rubbish

- By TYLER RIDDIN

THE traffic circle at the intersection of Swift Crescent and Beaconhurst Drive, which was originally expected to be finished at the end of this month, is already completed, providing some relief to the early morning congestion of Bonza Bay road.

However, the construction of this circle, which lies on the road leading to the suburbs’ garden refuse transfer station, seems to have caused lazy drivers on their way to the tip to end their journey early and dump their refuse along the side of the road instead of taking the longer route to the garden waste disposal site.

When the Daily Dispatch stopped by yesterday there was a considerable pile of rubbish consisting of a variety of things, including a windshield, cardboard boxes, styrofoam, plastic and garden refuse.

Samkelo Ngwenya, BCM spokesman, said he had spoken to councillor Helen Neale-May, portfolio head of community services, and a team will be sent to take care of the problem.

● Late yesterday some residents decided to take the matter into their own hands and set fire to the rubbish. This was quickly put out by a metro fire engine and team.
