ARK Christian Centre in King William’s Town will celebrate youth month in style this Friday when they host the award-winning singer-pastor, Khaya Mthethwa.

The annual Worship Extravaganza is in line with the annual Youth Month Celebrations. This year the organisers are bringing Khaya Mthethwa, a youth icon, the first black SA Idols winner (season 8).

Event organiser, Tabisa Mrwebi, said Mthethwa was an epitome of black excellence and was a demonstration of how dreams are possible. “We are excited about him coming as a solo artist to the BCM after recent release of his hit his The musician said captured his reflections on his life’s journey over the last 10 years. “I wrote after looking back at my life and realising that God’s been working in the background all this time. I’m inspired by the goodness of God in my life, and that’s the message behind the song.”

His passion for music and ministry began at the age of 13 when he preached to multitudes inside a tent. Since then, he hasn’t looked back.

Well-known for his Idols win in 2012, he’s released two gospel albums, presented TV-gospel shows, and is currently co-presenting Metro FM’s “The Sacred Space” with Thami Ngubeni.

He’s also taken over his family ministry as a full-time senior pastor, and recently got married to former Miss SA Ntando Kunene. Alongside Mthethwa, Mrwebi said they were also bringing Mnqobi Nxumalo, a young musician, composer, producer and music director of the international Joyous Celebration group. “We will also be featuring local talent such as Yanga Tshazibana, Prized, Vuyo Onceya, Gospel hip-hop artist Incense and more. These local artists will share the stage with our national guest artists.

“The vision of the event we are hosting is in line with making a positive difference to the young people in our community, exposing them to positive role models, creating a platform for them to showcase their own talent and creating fun worship events for them,” she said.

Tickets cost R100 and are available at Computicket.
