Rumble time for up-and-coming future stars in Mdantsane fightfest

- — Boxing Mecca

ANOTHER bunch of boxers all tipped to be future world champions will be introduced tomorrow during a development tournament at Mdantsane.

The show organised by Rumble Africa Promotion (RAP) will see former amateur stars making transition to the paid ranks with highly anticipation. “We are introducing another generation of boxing and we believe these boys will go and become world champions,” said RAP boss Teris Ntutu.

When Ntutu speaks people should listen as he unearthed a star in Duncan Village boxer Azinga Fuzile when no one knew him.

The promoter guided Fuzile from his first professional fight to winning multiple titles including the SA featherweight, interim WBC Youth title and a host of continental titles. Fuzile is now gunning for a world title.

Ntutu is confident the young boxers to feature in his show will follow on the footsteps of Fuzile.

Some of the boxers include multiple amateur champion Asanda Gingqi, highly talented Siyakholwa Khuse, SA Amateur team member Luvuyo Sizani and Chumani Tunzi.

Gingqi will take on Anda Kethewu in a six rounds featherweight clash while, Chumani Tunzi will do likewise against Luthando Mkwini in a junior-welterweight bout.

Kuse will be looking to use Samkelo Mejame as his first pro fight victim in a mini-flyweight scrap.

Sizani is a rare boxer from the region to compete in the heavy divisions as he will make his professional debut in the light-heavyweight division against Vusumzi Tukani of Uitenhage.

All but one of the nine bouts will be fought over six rounds with Phumelele Sobahle and Nkululeko Ngqani topping the bill in an eight rounds lightweight clash.

“Development has always been uppermost in our plans and we are happy to present these future stars to the public at an early age.”

Another highly anticipated bout will be between Khanyiso Siko making a huge step up in class when he takes on experienced Thembani Okolo of Port Elizabeth.

Siko’s management was criticised when it matched him against an experienced campaigner Ayanda Dulani who beat him on points this past April.

But right in his ring return he is again matched against Okolo.

Okolo has shared the ring with the likes of Deejay Kriel when he lost a close decision for the World Boxing Council silver mini-flyweight title, Siphamandla Baleni, who beat him for the South African mini-flyweight crown, and Dali Mangcotywa who also beat him in a national title challenge.
