Fuzile to scale new heights for Orient battle

- MESULI ZIFO

Duncan Village boxing star Azinga Fuzile’s battle with the scales are a thing of the past now that the unbeaten star has moved up to the junior- lightweight division for his next bout.

This means he has vacated the featherweight titles including the national crown which turned him into an overnight sensation after dethroning Mdantsane boxing hero Macbute Sinyabi.

Now Fuzile will take his success up north to the junior-lightweight division where his first fight in the new weight class will be for a title.

This when he will compete for the IBF Africa title against Nigerian Waidi Usman at Orient Theatre next Sunday.

The fight will be a welcome return for Fuzile in the ring after a plethora of challenges many which made bones about his medical unfitness.

But all have been proven to be a false alarm as the southpaw star is determined to continue his rise to the boxing summit.

He will be matched tough against the twice beaten Nigerian in 16 bouts, who packs a mean punch confirmed by all but two of his bouts won by knockouts.

The fight will be part of the Rumble Africa Promotion (RAP) show stacked with potentially exciting bouts including the long-awaited return of SA junior-lightweight champion Phila Mpontshane.

Mpontshane has not only been calling out Koos Sibiya but has almost been begging him to come and challenge for his national title.

Now he will get his wish when they clash in Mpontshane’s second title defence.

Xolisa Magusha will also return to action in defence of his SA mini-flyweight crown against Ayanda Ndulani.

It will be Magusha’s first fight since he failed to unseat Deejay Kriel in a WBC silver miniflyweight title in March.

Fortunately for him his national title was not on the line during the fight.

Hard punching Khanyile Bulana, who narrowly missed out on being a candidate for a prospect of the year, will get a chance to prove awards adjudication committee wrong for not considering him when he vies to add Tello Ditebe’s scalp to his list of victims.

There will be appearances by former SA junior-bantamweight champion Siphosethu Mvula as well as Xolisile Voyi.
