Tackle dragon’s heart

-

Dear Mr Malema, I imagine there are few people of the pale variety who would welcome you to Buffalo City. However, I’m perhaps an unlikely ally. In parliament you and the other members have shown great courage in tackling the scourge within the assembly that existed and today still exists to a lesser degree.

But tackling small fry white businesses in relation to service delivery for the people, is like tackling a burning factory with a watering can. The real problem for people living in conditions unfit for animals lies in a dysfunctional metro. Land for those people must be expropriated. But theft and fraud is rampant, maladministration, nepotism and an attitude of disrespect , particularly to the rural poor, is endemic.

In terms of "oversight" as the EFF describes its actions in the city lately, surely using the fire engine and pointing the hose at the real problem would display the courage that the EFF has demonstrated in the past.

For the people of this metro, transport, health, policing, infrastructure, water, rubbish collection, electricity, and most of all, employment, are crucial, all of which I’m sure you’re aware. The people are suffering. Tackle the dragon at its heart.

As an old man, I say to you that racial hatred has a blindness. I’ve seen too much of it. Define the people's problem and use your power to conquer real challenges we face in this metro, within the politics of what is just and right. — Rob Prestwich
