SABC3’s new magazine show, @ The Table started filming this week in preparation for the premier on August 22.

The show forms part of a host of new and exciting additions to the SABC 3 viewing schedule for this month and will see some of SA’s biggest celebrities wine and dine at some of the country’s most exclusive restaurants and cocktail bars.

“The food in South Africa is great and I think a lot of people are often curious about those fancy five-star restaurants and what they have to offer, so we thought this would be a great way to show off some of SA’s best,” said producer Adelaide Joshua-Hill of Urban Brew Studios.

“But the show is not just about great food; it’s also about the celebs and giving viewers a chance to see a different side of their favourite South African icons.”

Exploring the best spots in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town, each episode will see a group of local celebrities dine at three restaurants, and rate their experiences.

Sharing a bottle of South Africa’s finest wine over some ornamentally prepped starters, mains and desserts, celebrity dinner conversations will flow, giving viewers an inside scoop on childhood stories and life experiences.

“It will be like dining out with a group of friends.

“What makes it quite fun is that the celebs have no idea where they’re going beforehand. They only find out on the night,” said Joshua-Hill.

“We want SABC3 to be quintessentially South African, but still globally in touch and provide great entertainment that our viewers can relate to and enjoy,” said SABC3 general manager of television David Makubyane.

“With our new lifestyle show, @ The Table, viewers will get a unique South African take and original spin to celebrity cooking shows.”
