Lucky Star team manager John Adolph says they are expecting the unexpected as they prepare to face off with Young Killers for the Chris Hani region SAB League championship during the SAB league playoffs on Sunday at the Tsomo Grounds.

Adolph said although they have never met – Killers won stream B in the regional LFA league – Stars feel they had what it takes to snatch playoff title.

The two sides meet on Sunday and the winning team is set to be promoted to SAB League, and Adolph was positive that Killers would nott derail their campaign in the last minute.

“This is our second season in the LFA league and we’ve had a good past two seasons, even though there were a few knocks and hard times along the way,” said Adolph.

“There were a number of tough games in the 18 matches we played this season. I remember our 1-0 loss against Mzomhle Blues, then there was also Tsomo Masters, Fire Stars, Fast Eleven and the Young Tigers.

“Those teams were very competitive throughout this past season and I don’t expect them to change any time soon.”

He said focusing on mastering their attacking strategy and ensuring that they had a fit squad was what gave them the upper hand against during their games.

“We were fit this season and you could see the difference from the team that we had this time round. Because we would be trailing behind in a game, but we would come back and score two or three goals.

“So this is our last game and we need to go all out and we have been hard at work trying to prepare for the worst. Last week we played Somalia FC and beat them 2-0.

“And we drew against Liverpool FC from Cofimvaba 1-all, but then we won with goal difference.”

Adolph said they were preparing for their “toughest battle since the league began” as they have never met Young Killers. “We have no idea what to expect from them, because we have never seen them playing before, but we are very well prepared I must say.

“The guys have been training twice a day now, taking their fitness levels up a notch, especially our youngsters in the team – they have been really pushing themselves.

“And you can seen how they really want this and our captain Inga Mntumni has been working extra hard to make sure that he leads the boys to victory.

“He’s really leading by example and that’s good for the team because everyone is just following his lead.” their opposition opening playoff
