TRAINER Sharon Kotzen has some good chances at tomorrow’s Fairview Polytrack race meeting.

Alan Greeff is currently the top trainer on the Poly with eight wins for the season, which is just over a month old. But Kotzen’s win percentage is way better than his and those of all other trainers in Port Elizabeth.

Greeff’s eight victories came from 58 races, which makes a win percentage of 13,79. Kotzen has a success ratio of 37,50%, with six wins from 16 starts, and is a force to be reckoned with at this early stage of the season.

Although Greeff and Gavin Smith look strong in most of races on tomorrow’s card, punters are advised to keep an eye on the Kotzen runners.

In the third race she saddles Little Mo, who has an excellent winning chance with Louis Mxothwa up. Aloysius, Aviemore and Adalfieri are also strongly fancied, but Little Mo looks certain to take home a cheque.

Kotzen has two runners in Race 5. Desert Chief is expected to improve and could run a place, while Handre The Hero was an easy winner of his last race and could be good value at 8-1.

The Goon Show was a runaway winner when getting out of the maidens in his last start and we shouldn’t be surprised if this son of Pathfork finishes in the money again in the seventh.

In the eighth, Kotzen has a chance with Ginger Rose who is holding form nicely. From a good No 3 draw, jockey Julius Mphanya should finish in the money. Also keep an eye out for Valentine’s Girl and Save the best for last.

Race 6, a Divided Handicap for fillies and mares over 1 600m, is the main event of the day. Twelve runners face the starter, with most of them having a winning chance.

It’s a tricky one, but the Justin Snaith-trained Grizabel is fancied with just 53kg on the back. The daughter of Parthfork came close in her last start when she carried 60,5kg. Craig Zackey takes over the ride from Aldo Domeyer and the filly looks set for a third career victory from 14 outings.

If Grizabel does not win, it is anybody’s race, with Red Granite, Hidden Thought, Another Night, Onesie, Rocksette, Hashtagselfie and Altitude all capable of getting into the picture.

The vote goes to Grizabel with Rocksette, Another Night and Onesie next best.
