#DONTHURTHER, J-Sindy urges men in a new single
Singer-songwriter Mncedi ‘JSindy’ Ntantiso is using his music to highlight the plight of abused women and children.
The independent artist released his debut single titled
Babyface on Friday which he said called for young men particularly to rise up against the abuse of women.
He hoped it would encourage men to love and respect the women in their lives and was using the song to start a movement titled “J-Sindy #DONTHURTHER”.
The sole purpose of the campaign was to encourage men to become actively involved in advocating for gender equality and preventing gender-based violence.
J-Sindy said until men rose up against gender abuse, women would continue to be abused.
He believed men had the power to pull the plug of abuse of women. “There is a big problem amongst men in that we tend to solve our problems through violence, whenever we get upset we want to deal with it through fighting and as result our women have become victims.
“Unlike women we are unable to talk about our problems so this movement is a great platform to bring men together to talk and find solutions to help curb abuse.” J-Sindy said men should know that women were neither sexual objects nor were they punching bags.
“I am proud to stand up and say no to gender-based violence, we are the people we are because of women. The J-SINDY #DONTHURTHER movement is still new and I am still pushing it through social media and on the tour that I have just begun.”
J-Sindy also had T-shirts printed with the slogan and encouraged men to buy these shirts and wear them with pride and stand in solidarity to end gender-based violence.
J-Sindy is currently on tour in Mthatha to promote his debut single. The musician said he planned to take his tour to a national level.
