A driverless tractor, bagpipes, Scottish dancing, and fancy motorcycles will feature at the 67th annual Komga Agricultural show this weekend, according to show president Les Trollope.

Farmers, families and petrol heads will be making their way to the show to enjoy livestock exhibits and sales, vintage tractors and a display of topdollar Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Trollope said: “It’s a community project where farmers come to display their stock, products and practices, but we’ve tried to make it fun for everyone with live music and entertainment. There will also be craft stalls, delicious food, activities and exhibits.”

The show will also feature sheep shearing demos, breeder exhibits and equipment displays and farmers will be there for the sale of 800 head of cattle.

Highland and Scottish dancers will perform to the pipe band’s bagpipe melodies, and there will be a beer tent, tea garden and artisan foodstalls.

A dog show and equestrian events are also on the cards, but Trollope said one of the the highlights will be the Mercedes-Benz Club’s display.

Also on display will be tractors used from as early as the 1930s to the latest models.

“People can compare what was used in the 1900s to what we use today. You can’t believe how much technology has advanced, there’s even a tractor with a GPS that basically drives itself,” said Trollope.

The show runs from 8am today. The entry fee is R25 for adults and R15 for children.
