Greeff-Cheyne machine rolls on

- Dispatch Racing Editor

THE powerful combination of trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Greg Cheyne can dominate proceedings once again at tomorrow’s Fairview Polytrack meeting.

Some fields are small, but that should not take the shine off some quality racing.

Greeff and Cheyne could get punters off to a winning start with Piazza Del Campo in Race 1 over 1 300m. The two-year-old daughter of Sail From Seattle should get out of the maidens in her fourth start as she takes on 12 opponents.

Piazza Del Campo flew up late in her third and last run to finish second, 0,05 lengths behind It’s A Girl.

This time Cheyne is drawn at No 7, in the middle of the field, and should have little difficulty in steering his mount to a win for owner Mr VW Koster.

In the second, Cheyne is again the man to beat when he rides Aldo for Messrs CG & LF Scribante.

Aldo is a classy sort with three wins from four starts and should make it four from five.

Counting Stars and Pacific

Spirit look likely to do the chasing.

Trainer Gavin Smith’s Lateral’s Flash is the one to beat in Race 3, but we should not underestimate Cheyne on Kazuri. Kanishiwa, who will have Bernard Fayd’Herbe up for the Jacques Strydom yard, also has a decent chance.

Three Times A Lady could start as favourite in Race 4 with Cheyne in the irons.

The Scribante horse was an unlucky loser when finishing a length behind Let It Flow a fortnight ago and Cheyne will be expected to set the record straight.

The rider is in the same position in Race 5, with Streak Of Silver.

On September 14 Cheyne finished a length behind the winner on the former Eric Sands charge in his PE debut. The son of Silvano ran on late over 1 200m and tomorrow’s 1 600m should suit for a sixth win from 28 outings.

Another Greeff runner, Kimberley Star, is in contention in this race with Fayd’Herbe up.

Cheyne then targets a win in Race 7 with Aloysius. This one finished 2,75 lengths behind Captain Marooned last time and needs respect.

Rule The World (Muzi Yeni for Smith) and Oracle Kingdom (Chase Maujean for Strydom) are both strong claimants for the winner’s cheque.

The Greeff yard also has a money chance with Oklahoma Sky in the eighth and last race.

Race 1 is off at 1240.
