The main man is on the decks tonight
All roads lead to the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium in East London on Friday, with thousands of fans expected to fill the venue when the country’s biggest DJ, Black Coffee, spins the decks.
And while some might call it Slummies, East London will come alive on Friday night as the internationally-acclaimed Mthatha-raised DJ brings his electric Chivas Black Coffee to the city.
The show starts at 5pm. Event organiser Ivan Motale, of Motale Investments, said party-goers were guaranteed a great time.
“This is the first concert to be hosted in East London without public funding,” he said.
“It’s all systems go for Friday. Security is in place, the sound system is sorted, ticket sales are going well.
“We look to host over 4,500 people,” he said.
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumlo, has returned from his European residency tour in Ibiza and the United States, and will now kick off his national tour here in East London.
Black Coffee, presented by Chivas Regal South Africa, is a series of six events which will take place across SA, showcasing the country’s most celebrated musical artists, as well as upcoming local talent.
Other popular artists who are set to perform before the Samba
hitmaker takes to the stage are Bhisho-born hip-hop artist Anatii, DJ Sumbody and Da Capo, as well as local artists Blomzit Avenue, Natz EFX, Yoba Slogan, Anda and Mario.
Tickets are R150 for early birds, R200 on the day (available for purchase at the Windmill) and the VIP tickets cost R500.
Tickets are available online at Computicket, as well as at all Shoprite and Checkers stores. No cooler boxers are allowed in the venue.
