Chase across the line

-

JOCKEY Chase Maujean could get punters off to a winning start when he rides Tara Laingtrained Shallcross in Race 1 at Fairview today.

The four-year-old son of Twice Over looks ready to get out of the maidens when he takes on six other runners over 2 400m. Shallcross was hanging when touched off in his last start when finishing second behind Fujin by the narrowest of margins.

Maujean retains the ride and looks set to go one better this time.

Hippie Trail and Conquering King are both set to give stiff opposition.

In Race 3 Alan Greeff-trained Aldo looks hard to beat with Greg Cheyne up. The CG & LF Scribante-owned gelding has three wins from five outings and can easily improve on his third place behind Amazon King last time. On that occasion he finished only 0,85 lengths behind the winner and is capable of bagging a fourth career win.

To do that he will have to turn the tables on Amazon King who is once again a strong contender. Amazon King has four wins from 32 starts to his credit and can make his presence felt. Le Grand Rouge is also a big danger with Lyle Hewitson in the saddle.

Race 5 is tricky but Remember This is in great form with three victories in a row and it won’t come as a surprise if Greeff’s charge makes it four out of four for Mr AN & The Hon Mrs GR Foster with Cheyne in the saddle.

Remember This also carries 4kg less than last time. Others to consider include Esteemal, Just My Style and Red Granite. Esteemal looks ready for another money run while Just My Style, formerly trained by Gavin van Zyl Jnr, can score in her second outing for the Sharon Kotzen stable.

It Is Written and Arabian Dynasty could fight it out for the winner’s cheque in Race 7 over 1 600m. It Is Written is back in form and could earn another stake cheque for owner Fred Crabbia. Maujean retains the ride for the Laing yard. Arabian Dynasty is also set for a big run.

My World and Paper Town cannot be underestimated as both have the credentials to win.

Madame Speaker in Race 4 and Leadman in Race 8 are possible Pick 6 bankers.
