Mthatha’s sensational afro-soul group, 047, are set to perform at some big events in Buffalo City Metro this festive season, starting with the Berlin November on Saturday.

The trio, mentored by Vusi Nova, comprises Sihle Mdaka 22, Lihle Baleni, 21, and Ngcali Nundu, 20. They released their debut album Wen’Ungowam in May.

“The reception has been overwhelming. It is nice to see people enjoy our music and it gives us joy to see our message getting across in the way we hoped it would,” said Nundu.

The 12-track album is filled with love songs with a mix of gospel. “Almost all our songs are romantic. We want to set the right mood for lovers who are listening to our music. We are all about unity,” Mdaka said.

The group recently released their music video for their hit Wen’Ungowam. The hit song Ubuhle, which brought them fame, has meanwhile reached 1.1-million views on YouTube.

The trio is signed under the same record label as Vusi Nova – Muthaland Entertainment – and have been dubbed “Vusi Nova’s boys”.

“We appreciate the help he has given us. We have received praise from most industry legends like Ntando and Zahara.

“I think they appreciate the fact that we come from Mthatha and we are working our way up to the top,” Baleni said.

The group promised to leave the thousands at the Berlin November begging for more.

“We are going to kill that stage. We will make sure our presence is felt,” said Nundu.

The young trio say their hope is to tour the African continent before taking their music to the rest of the world.

The group said early next year they would embark on a tour singing in schools across SA.

“We want to perform in as many schools as possible. We are also targeting schools here in the Eastern Cape,” said Ngcali.

The band will also perform at the Buyel’Ekhaya Pan African Music Festival on December 16.
