- ZISANDA NKONKOBE zisandan@dispatch.co.za

Ever been tempted to walk away from your current job to pursue your dreams but are terrified to leave your salary behind?

The Volkswagen (VW) Touareg sabbatical could be your answer.

The three-month sabbatical opportunity, announced by the motoring giant earlier this week, allows one South African candidate the opportunity to take three months off from their job with an allowance of R100,000 per month, a new VW Touareg to drive, plus a discretionary investment to bring their idea to life.

Leading the campaign is a team of influential business leaders including renowned broadcaster Bruce Whitfield, Discovery Insure founder and director Themba Baloyi, travel journalist Didimalo Molefe, author and entrepreneur Alan Knott-Craig, entrepreneur and founder of the agricultural organisation GroShoot Mosidi Modise and Mokena Makeka, architect and founder of Makeka Design.

They make up part of the team that will choose the ultimate candidate.

Head of VW communication, Andile Dlamini, said any business idea could be submitted: from starting South Africa's first rooftop honey farm to turning recycled plastic into roads that connect rural communities.

Applications for the sabbatical can be made by filling out an online form at https://luxuryoftime.businessinsider.co.za/application-form/. General personal details are taken including the potential candidates current position and location.

Applicants are also urged to provide a maximum of 500 words explaining their business idea.

The closing date for entries is February 28 2018.
