The Guys club owner’s claims are nonsense, says Safa regional official

Owner of struggling ABC Motsepe League side The Guys, Ntsizakalo Ngalo, has launched a scathing attack on the provincial SA Football Association for actions which he labelled as “pure sabotage”.

Ngalo was reacting to their 12th loss in their maiden season after they were beaten 3-1 by PE Stars at the Mpeshwa Sports Fields in Bizana during a league encounter last week.

He said the provincial Safa office and the Mbizana Municipality were setting up his club for failure.

For Ngalo this became apparent when he allegedly failed to secure financial assistance in the form of transportation to honour league games, which he claimed was promised to the club by the municipality.

“We rely on Mbizana a lot when it comes to away games as they promised to help us. But they never lived up to their promises, meaning I had to make alternative arrangements.

“We know they are supporting two other teams playing in this failing to support us would.”

Ngalo said the Safa provincial secretary’s office was also on a campaign that’s aimed to see The Guys being relegated from the thirdtier league.

After playing 18 games this season, Guys have only managed to collect eight points after winning only one game and drawing five times.

“In two games we lost points because Safa decided to strip us of six points for reasons which we don’t know. At first they said we didn’t pitch for a game.

“Plus on top of that, they fined the club thousands of rand and they have in the past failed to give us enough time to prepare for away matches.

“I blame Safa for this because they even went as far as telling me a day before a game that we have to travel to PE.

“Plus they also failed to verify the claims that were made by a match official who said we didn’t honour one of the games they penalised us for.

“So that’s why I say there’s a campaign to see us fail in this league,” said Ngalo. league but they are like they said they

Ngalo felt that that they were not getting the requisite assistance from league benefactor Patrice Motsepe, who funds the thirdtier league.

“We are not getting the required assistance to run a club in this league. We don’t get anything from him [Motsepe]. Up to now we have not received our grants.

“We even bought our own jerseys for this season and even a season can end without you getting anything.”

Safa provincial secretary Isaac Klaas described Ngalo’s comments as nonsensical and misleading, coming from a confused individual.

“The fixtures are uploaded onto [the] MySafa website. We are just doing a courtesy as an office to send them fixtures on Wednesdays.

“For him not to check his email that’s not our problem and the issue of points [that were stripped from The Guys] is a disciplinary matter and I won’t comment on it.

“If he was not happy about the decision not to award him points for the games he failed to attend, then he must appeal,” said Klaas.

The administrator said they viewed such allegations in a serious manner as Ngalo was accusing him of ‘regionalism’.

“I take serious offence to that and he must prove that because I will take him up on that.

“He wrote us a letter to say his players stole all his playing gear and he could not attend a game. That’s not our problem as an association.

“We responded saying they must handle it because it’s a club disciplinary matter.”

Klaas said The Guys failed to attend the game against Swartkops Valley United Brothers that was scheduled for January 4 in Port Elizabeth.

“They wrote me another letter during the festive season to say they won’t be able to attend that game. I was on leave and I didn’t respond to that.

“They failed to attend another game against Highbury [at Wolfson stadium in PE] the same month. It was their home game. In terms of the referee’s report they arrived late at the stadium.

“So we charged them with rule 28 [Safa Rules and Regulations that determines sanctions], because that game was not played.

“He’s very confused about how things are done in this league.”
