Old Boys pip Beacon Bay

The rained-out fixtures in the Jekyll & Hyde Summer Series have been played.

Old Boys and Beacon Bay locked horns in an effort to gain supremacy at the top of the log.

The most closely fought encounter was the women’s doubles, in which Arlien Myburgh and Cindy Taylor shoe-horned their way past Jenny Milne and Alison Baxter at 8-6.

Sam Townes and Ryan Little once again proved themselves to be the top doubles couple in Buffalo City when they defeated Daniel Hendel and Ryan Armstrong 8-4.

In the mixed doubles the Armstrong/Myburgh combinatio­n beat the Little/Milne duo 8-4, while Townes and Baxter defeated Hendel and Taylor 8-5.

In a breath-taking count out Old Boys sneaked past their hosts with a game score of 26-25.

In the Alfa vs Beacon Bay/Stirling match Lester Barkhuysen and Kaylan Padley teamed up to defeat Guy Hartley and Kirk Gibbons in the men’s doubles, while Lynne Green and Clare van der Walt took the women’s doubles at 8-3 against Charissa Harmann and Natalie van der Veen.

The mixed doubles spoils were equally divided, with the Barkhuysen/Van der Veen pairing defeating Gibbons and Van der Walt 8-3. Hartley and Green levelled matters in their 8-5 defeat of Padley and Harmann.

The final tally was a 3-2 victory to Alfa.
