Old Boys show real hot streak
The Buffalo City tennis leagues were played in perfect weather on Saturday.
The strong Old Boys team allowed Alfa only one set in their encounter. Alfa’s neversay-die Tony Brits and his steady partner, Lester Barkhuysen, captured the first set against Nicolas Efstratiou and Seb Hensberg before succumbing in a closely-fought final set tiebreaker at 10-7.
The Sam Townes/Ryan Little Old Boys combination continued in devastating form, winning both their encounters with ease in preparation for their trip to Sun City.
The Beacon Bay A side beat Gonubie without losing a set.
Having won the first set at 7-5 against Gareth Fray and Justin Cronje, Ryan Armstrong and Daniel Hendel stepped on the gas to take the second set at 6-3. In a close encounter the Fray/Cronje partnership succumbed to the Jean Coetzee/Matthew Miller duo.
