Bucks out to disrupt Peace

- MFUNDO PILISO mfundop@dispatch.co.za

After suffering a sad loss last weekend to Tornado, Mthatha Bucks will get an opportunity to bounce back in the ABC Motsepe League on Saturday.

Bucks hit the road to face Port Elizabethbased side Peace Makers, with the match set for Wolfson Stadium.

The Mthatha-based club will be going into this game as the favourite, after having beaten Makers in the first round, but they will have to be on their toes as the Chippa United feeder team will be looking to steal maximum points.

Bucks will have to deal with issues of player readiness because of the distance of 482.7km via the N2, an estimated six-hour drive they are set to travel to PE.

Fatigue always creeps travels on matchday.

Both teams are in competition for the league title, and so it’s going be interesting to see who comes out tops. Bucks have 40 points in when the team after playing 20 games, and Makers will be looking to steal maximum points that would propel them to 38 points, as they currently sit at 35 after 20 games.

Another blockbuster encounter this weekend will be staged at Mqeshwa Sport Fields in Bizana, where Bizana Pondo Chiefs host the high-flying PE Stars.

Stars are currently runners-up, with 41 points as well, while the Bizana-based outfit have 38 points at fifth position with a game in hand. Stars surprised many people, including themselves, when they managed to pull an upset when they visited the reigning champions Tornado two weeks ago.

This was a result which Stars coach Duran Francis thought would go a long way in boosting his charges’ confidence as they move closer to the league title.
