Multi-skilled human resources graduate looks to put 17 years of experience to good use
A father of two who struggles to make ends meet is in desperate need of a job to take care of his family.
Charles Nana, 44, from Motherwell in Port Elizabeth, last worked in October when he was contracted for six months at a motor company in the city.
Since then he has submitted online job applications and handed his CV to recruitment agents, but so far has not had any success.
In the meantime, he tutors pupils in life science.
He obtained a bachelor of administration human resources degree from Nelson Mandela University in 2005.
Nana, a James High School pupil, boasts 17 years of experience at the department of employment & labour as a public employment service officer, a human resources officer at the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality and correctional services, sales adviser and library assistant.
“I have not got any response since I started applying last year. I now depend on my brother to get by,” he said.
His children are aged 19 and 25. One is studying at university, while another is writing supplementary Grade 12 exams.
Life without any income is difficult as he struggled to provide for his children, he said.
“I am looking forward to putting my experience to good use.
“I am looking for any job in HR, admin and data capturing, but as a father I am not picky.
“I don’t mind relocating too. I try to not let being unemployed frustrate me too much, but I am in serious need of a job and I hope something will come up,” he said.
His expertise includes data capturing, auditing appointment dates, administration duties and calculating overtime, night shift and danger allowances and controlling and reporting absenteeism.
Nana described himself as a hard worker and a meticulous person who goes above and beyond the call of duty to meet deadlines and targets.
He said he had sound knowledge of all relevant labour legislation.
His skills include Microsoft Office, providing administration support on ESS and MSS resolution with 48 hours.
