Relatives FC, Peacemakers set for exciting Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe encounter

- ANATHI WULUSHE

High-flying Relatives FC will be gunning for Nelson Mandela Bay’s Peacemakers’ scalp on Saturday (3pm) at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in what will be a mouth-watering Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe encounter.

The Mdantsane-based team are in third place in Stream B with 11 points after six matches and are on a three-game winning streak after beating Seven Stars 1-0 at Sisa Dukashe last weekend and FC Jacaranda at the same venue. They also claimed an away win against Bizana Pondo Chiefs in Bizana.

Their tails will be up heading to the match and they will be looking to move to the top of the Stream with FC Siyanda who are on top with 13 points.

However, Ama-Reli will have a daunting task as the Gqeberha side have had a good start to the season and sit second on the Stream.

Relatives head coach Athenkosi Paul urged his side to continue their good form.

“The boys played well last weekend against Seven Stars,” Paul said.

“We are starting to gel as a team and the new players are beginning to understand our style of play.

“Peacemakers will come into the match as favourites since they are one of the more experienced teams at this level and reached the play-offs last season.

“We will not sit back against them.

“It will be important to continue the attacking game plan that worked for us in the past three matches.”

Other fixtures in Stream B: Bizana Pondo Chiefs will face Mthatha Jacaranda at Mphuthumi Mafumbatha Stadium (3pm) and Seven Stars will square off with FC Hanley at Dumpy Adams (3pm).

Sinenkani will be looking to extend their stay at top of Stream A.

The Bizana side are on 11 points with only a point separating them from secondplaced Ravens and third placed Highbury.

On Saturday they will welcome Lusikisiki’s FC Champion at Mputhumi Mafumbatha in an early kick-off (1pm).

Nedbank Cup round 32 qualifiers Amavarara will look to stamp their authority against Ravens, who will be eager to move to the top of the stream and overcome Sinenkani.

The two sides will battle it out at Lady Grey Stadium (3pm).

Thohayandou will play Matta Milan to kick off the triple header at Mphuthumi Mafumbatha (11am) while Bush Bucks will welcome AmaMpondo United at Mthatha Stadium (3pm).

Friday’s fixture saw Stream B third placed Bush Pirates play Amaxesibe from KwaBhaca at Valencia Stadium, Addo.
