New convenience centre unveiled in Haven Hills
OK Supermarket and Liquor Store with an Astron Energy Fuel Station
There is a new shining beacon in Haven Hills, East London, with a new convenience retail centre opening to service the communities of Haven Hills, Scenery Park, Buffalo Flats, Egoli and the East Bank. The grand opening on the 3rd February celebrated a brand new 1850m² OK Supermarket and an 180m² OK Liquor store to compliment the newly branded Astron Energy Fuel Station and drive-through KFC.
This is another Imperium Developments community retail centre which was project managed by Jedwyn Harty for the joint venture partnership between Mark and Tracy Povey and Peter and Lessane Pape. This is the 4th and largest OK franchise development completed by Imperium Developments in the last 30 months, with the others based in Berea in East London, Bhisho and Peddie.
Lesanne Povey said her family grew up on a farm in this area and her husband, Peter , purchased the property from the former MEC for finance, Billy Nel, in 1983. At that stage there were only 3 houses on the now busy Woolwash Road and the fuel station was not doing many sales.
The site traded as a BP fuel station for many years with large workshops to service trucks.
The Pape family have ownerrun the fuel station for more than 40 years and their manager, Selma Jones, has been part of the team for 37 years. When it came time to do a revamp of the site, the Pape family took a long time to decide to eventually do a joint venture development with Mark Povey of Imperium Developments and both parties are now very happy with the results.
The new OK Supermarket and Liquor Store franchise holder is multi-franchise owner, Andreas Efstratiou, who owns numerous OK Franchise stores in the Eastern Cape. He was greatly assisted by his general manager, Tony Veaudry, in getting this substantial supermarket ready to trade.
As OK Retailers, they make a formidable team and the project manager said they were a pleasure to work with. The new OK Supermarket and Liquor Store has created 60 new jobs with this development and created a world class shopping experience for the community.
The newly branded Astron Energy fuel station is looking bold and clean with the new image and the Astron team were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure that the rebranding was completed by the time of the OK Supermarket opening.
Imperium Developments and Lesanne Pape wish to thank the Eyona team for their effort and for the grand opening.
Lesanne Pape wishes to thank all her customers and taxi owners for the years of support, as well as her loyal staff.
Mark Povey would also like to thank all the professional team members for yet another successful development and extend a special thanks to Jedwyn Harty who performed the project manager’s role so well.
